Mc Cune College was purchase by the trustees of the up and coming new name for the college in 1877. The school
apperantly did not open for five years after the purchase, as of now I have no information pertaining to these five years.
The College, then under Baptist regime, became associated with the First Baptist Church that still stands across the street
from it. The college named after one of the purchasers, A.J. Mc Cune.
* "At the timeof this change A.J. Mc Cune as president, W.M. White, secretary, and A. Slaughter, treasurer."
Mr. A. Slaughter was acting principal at least durring 1881-1883.
The School continued until 1895 when it was sold to A.J. Mc Cune and was operated normally until 1895. In
1895 it closed it's doors forever, leaving a piece of American history collecting dust until now, over 100 years later.
